Trying to stay modern with new renovations in cafeteria, media center, scoreboards etc.
I like that the 5-day week is back because I think there was a negative tone about it in the community.
North Branch teachers do a WONDERFUL job with what they have to work with. There is no question that they care about their students and go above and beyond. They are more than just teachers, they're an integral part of our community.
A variety of class offerings ranging from college classes to vocational.
Wonderful way for high school students to interact with older generation.
I believe the move away from vocational/technical education over the last decades is a disservice to our students. Not everyone is headed toward a 4 year college. North Branch could attract new students by having a strong vo/tech program that will distinguish us over other districts.
A place that people want to be at makes it a vibrant place to learn. If the staff has good morale they are enthusiastic and builds a great atmosphere for leaning...when the staff has enthusiasm it can't help but contagious to the students. It is not something that can not be forced.
It has been my experience that in general students actually want an atmosphere of discipline. It gives the students a feeling of security. With discipline comes mutual respect which is an atmosphere for learning.
I feel it is very important for the student to teacher ratio at the elementary grades be 20-1. Students need the direction from teachers to guide their learning and also teachers need to be able to assist and evaluate students progress.
Communication builds trust. Trust generates commitment. Commitment fosters teamwork, and teamwork delivers results. Without communication, you can't build the trust and relationships. Great communication requires one-on-one conversations that help build relationships.
I would love to be more involved in the district, but do not have any children. I don't know how to go about getting involved.
I would love to see more activities available for adults in the community ed classes. Everything is focused toward children & seniors. I'm in my 30s and would love to see a game of dodge ball or big base offered! Also, are the hallways and/or tracks avail. for use (walking/running) by community members?
